I want to inform you about a brother I spent much time with in Guantanamo Bay. His name is Ravil Mingazov, I knew him as Sa'eed. He joined me and encouraged other brothers to go on hunger strikes on many occasions to protest our unlawful treatment.
He has been unlawfully detained for almost 23 years, first in Bagram, then in Guantanamo for 15 years and since 2017 he's been detained in the UAE. Some of the brothers who were also held in the UAE called it "worse than Guantanamo". In all this time, he has never been charged or tried for any crime!
Ravil is now in danger of being sent back to Russia where he risks facing torture. He has a son in the UK that he's not seen since he was a baby. It's time they are reunited.
I call on you all to join me, and take urgent action and write to Tina Kaidanow, US Senior Representative of Guantanamo Affairs, to demand his immediate release and reunification with his family.
